Much like the recent storm swept through the northwest the night before, Manchester City swept Manchester United aside at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 victory for their manager's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the WSL pinnacle.

Successive Setbacks for United

This result marked successive Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capability to balance domestic and continental soccer with a thin squad has been a hotly discussed subject since they qualified for the UCL.
