Vinted Users Share Anger Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
